Thelma F. Karns
Age 93, of Vandalia, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2022, at The Hospice of Dayton. Thelma was born August 22, 1928 in Ft. Worth, Texas to the late Homer & Jessie (Tatum) Arwine. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 75 years, Carl Karns, in 2009.
She was a member of Polk Grove Church since 1946; active with Sister Cities of Vandalia; and she ran concession stands at the ATA for over 30 years.
Thelma is survived by two children, Connie Karns-Moore & her husband, Tayse and Larry Karns & his wife, Linda; three siblings, Bob Arwine & his wife, Mary Jane, Evelyn Schmidt & Dorothy Adkins; two grandchildren, Jonathan Stephens & Christopher Stephens (Kristy); and by six great grandchildren, Stone, Sterling, Ava, Zane, Quinn & Reese.
The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, Friday (4/29) at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 Noon with Rev. Robert Smitley officiating. Interment will be at Poplar Hill Cemetery.
