Rev. Paul Hock Obituary

Rev. Paul J. Hock

Age 87, formerly of the Dayton, Ohio area and more recently of Hawkinsville, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 28, 2020, in Hawkinsville. It was Paul’s life-long prayer to be able to hear the words of his Savior saying, “Well done thy good and faithful servant.” He was born June 4, 1933 in Dayton to the late Brian Jennings & Minnie May (Williamson) Hock. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Ann Hock, after 41 years of marriage; two brothers, George & Donald; and by four sisters, Louella, Melvina, Betty & Lori.

Paul was a full-time Southern Baptist Minister for 47 years. During his ministry he served the Dayton Baptist Temple as youth pastor, then became the full-time pastor of Temple Baptist Church and Trinity Baptist Church. Prior to going full time with his ministry, he was also a heavy equipment operator in Dayton.

Paul is survived by his loving wife of the past 25 years, Johnnie Ruth Gibson-Hock; seven children, Jackie Luepke, Debbie Lyttle, Paula Blackaby & her husband, Jeff, Pamela Cook & her husband, Bill, Terri Carter & her husband, Mike, Tony Gibson & his wife, April and Tonya Davis & her husband, Rick. Paul is also survived by a total of 53 grandchildren, great grandchildren.

Due to the Covid-19 concerns there will be no public services. Private graveside services will be held for the family at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery where Paul will be laid to rest next to his first wife, Shirley. Paul always said God gave him two precious angels…. Shirley Ann and Johnnie Ruth Hock. Another of his favorite sayings was, “Ain’t God Good!”
