Paul C. Preston

Age 94, of Vandalia, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at Miami Valley Hospital. He was born March 31, 1927 in Thealka, Kentucky to the late Frank F. & Dora Anne (Hall) Preston. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline Preston; his second wife, Hilda Preston; and by a son, Paul Phillip Preston. Paul retired from G.H.R. Foundry with 35 years of service. He is survived by three daughters, Pam Egbert, Patricia Llewellyn and Paula Napier; four grandchildren, Nicole, Jennifer, Cari & Jessica; eight great grandchildren; one sister, Ellen Sargent; one brother, Jarvey Preston; and by his extended family & many good friends. 

Paul was a published poet; published in many journals and newspapers. Always writing from the heart and inspired by his faith, he impacted many people’s lives with his great writing talent. He volunteered with the Royal Rangers, giving his service to the church whenever he could. Paul was at his best commanding a room in conversation. He was never fearful and delivered advice straight and to the point.  His humble beginnings in Kentucky taught him of hard work and dedication to family, faith, and cultivating the land. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him during his long life. 

The family will be receiving friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 p.m., on Thursday, March 31, at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Terry Whitley officiating. Interment will be at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery.
