Mary L. Highfield-Beatty (nee: Ritz)

Age 97, passed away peacefully at Friendship Village on Tuesday, October 5, 2021. Mary was born July 22, 1924 in Dayton to the late Carl & Louise (Breisch) Ritz.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 32 years, Arthur Beatty, in 2000; and by one brother, Jack Ritz.

Mary was a life-long member of the former St. Paul Lutheran Church on Wayne Avenue and she retired from Dayco in 1983 with over 30 years of service.

She is survived by six children, Thomas Highfield & his wife, Tamara, Candace Weaver & her husband, Gary, Nancy Collier, Jack Highfield & his wife, Mary, Vicki Patterson and Guy Highfield & his wife, Karen; 15 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and 13 great great grandchildren.

The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. on Saturday (October 9) at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Drive, Vandalia. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Dan Kincer officiating. Interment will be at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Tipp City.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made in memory of Mary to the Parkinson’s Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, Florida 33131.
