Leanna F. Madsen (nee: Cooley)

Age 66, of Brookville, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 29, 2019. Leanna was born February 5, 1953 in Hillsboro, Ohio to the late Clem & Doris Louise (Lawson) Cooley. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her sister, Janet Scott.

Leanna was the Director of the Daycare Center at Dayton Children’s Hospital for over 25 years.  Leanna was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving as the only female Titan II missile guidance technician at that time.  She had many interests, including sewing, quilting, cooking, traveling, music and reading.

She is survived by her loving husband of the past 44 years, Robert K. Madsen; three siblings, Gary Cooley & his wife, Kim, John Cooley & his wife, Mary and Mary Worley & her husband, Ed; and by her extended family & many good friends.  Leanna had many special ‘grandbabies’ that she loved deeply.  These include Liam and Keely Sease, Laine Broach, Emerson Sease, Caitlyn and Chloe Weter, Adeline and Sullivan Madsen, Eva Krumal, Riley and Kaelyn Madsen, Cassie, Olivia, Justin, Aaron, and Isaac Martinez.  They were truly a light in their EE’s life. 

The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2020, at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. A celebration of Leanna’s life will follow at 12:00 p.m. where family & friends will be invited to share memories and stories.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in memory of Leanna to the State of the Heart Hospice, 1350 N. Broadway Street, Greenville, Ohio 45331.
