Joseph Wright

WRIGHT, Joseph U. “Joe”, age 81 of Butler Twp, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 5, 2021, at Miami Valley Hospital.  Joe was born September 8, 1939, in Dayton, Ohio, son of the late Herbert W. & Nellie (Law) Wright.  Joe was a U.S. Army Veteran, and a member of the First Light Church in Vandalia.  Preceded in death by 2 children, Steve Wright and Jan Shafer, Joe is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patricia “Pat”; 5 grandchildren, Jack Shafer (April), Mitchell Fox, Kara Merrell (Brian), Ariana Wright and Joseph Wright; 5 great-grandchildren, Brittany, Noah and Andrew Merrell and Leah and Reid Shafer; his brother, Jack Wright (Sandra) along with a host of wonderful church family and friends.   

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, September 7, 2021, at First Light Church, 140 Elva Ct., Vandalia with Mr. John Seagraves officiating.  Interment will follow at Polk Grove Cemetery.   The family will receive friends at First Light Church on Thursday from 1:00PM until time of service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fisher House, Post Office Box 33871, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH 45433 in Joe’s memory.  Arrangements entrusted to Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia.
