John Combs

COMBS, John R., age 44 of Dayton, passed away unexpectedly March 4, 2023.  Known to his friends, as “BBJ” or Big Brother John, he was born January 13, 1979 in Dayton, Ohio, son of the late W. Randall “Randy” and Gail (Severt) Combs.   John was an eclectic personality who enjoyed a variety of things throughout his life including cooking, fixing computers, playing Dungeons and Dragons and enjoyed all types of music including everything from heavy metal to classical. 

Preceded in death by his father, Randy Combs, maternal grandparents, Donald and Rosemary Severt; paternal grandparents, Arnold and Beulah “Pokie” Combs; and his best friend, Kurt Hensley, John is survived by his loving mother, Gail Combs; sister, Heather Combs; brother, Bobby Wertz; best friends, David Kenny and April Frank; his favorite canine nephew, Gizmo and host of other relatives and special friends.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held Thursday evening, March 9 from 5-7 pm at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia.
