James E. Thompson Obituary

James E. Thompson, “Jim”, age 83, Celina, OH, formerly of Dayton and Vandalia, passed away August 31, 2020 at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton.  Jim was born in Rocky Station, VA.  He enlisted in the Army and served in the 82nd Airborne Division from 1958-1962. Jim and Margie were married 7/31/64.    Jim was a construction worker and owned Thompson Construction until he retired. He loved to fish and constantly talked about going fishing "when the wind died down". He was a gentle soul and very appreciative of everything anyone did for him.  Jim will be missed by anyone who met him. 

Preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie (Staggs); son, James B. “Jamie” and grandson, Aaron Snow. Also preceded in death by parents George C. and Laura (Smith) Thompson; brothers: Leonard “Tony” Clinton, and Douglas; sisters: Betty Belden & Ruth Parsons. 

He is survived by sons: Rick (Kathy) Snow; Scott (Jane) Bennett, daughter, Kathy (Chuck) Lacy, daughter in law, Lesa Thompson; Grandchildren: Mark (Anessia) Snow, Josh Fuller, Jeremy Lacy, Kelsey Bennett, Jesse Thompson, Tyler Bennett & Rachel Thompson. great-grandsons: Jordan & Brynnan Snow; great-great-grandson, Montana Snow and brother, GC Thompson.

Graveside Service with military honors will be held at 12:00 pm, Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery, 8135 N. Dixie Dr., Dayton, OH 45414.
