Gloria Henger (nee: Hein)
Age 94, of Vandalia, passed away peacefully at her home at Friendship Village, where she had resided for the past seven years, on Tuesday, September 27, 2022. She was born March 20, 1928 in Dayton to the late Edward John & Ruth (Burris) Hein. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving, charming & handsome husband of 58 years, Charles Henger.
She graduated from Fairview High School in 1946. She was active with the O.E.S. where she held two Star Point positions. She actively supported her husband with his many masonic positions and they were co-owners of Henger’s IGA on East National Road from 1976 to 1997. Gloria was a member of both the former Murlin Heights Church of Christ and the Vandalia United Methodist Church. When her children were young she was very active in their school’s PTAs all throughout their school years.
Gloria is survived by three children, Steve Henger, Jim (Ronda) Henger & Leigh (Brad) Hafer; seven grandchildren, Matt (Erin) Henger, Amy (Dave) Mack, Brian (Julie) Henger, Carinne (Justin) Hudson, Tyler Henger, Charley Hafer, and Megan (Joey) Fife; nine great grandchildren, Harper, Holden, Hunter, Conner, Landon, Savannah, Alaina, Aidan & Mason; one sister, Dolores Rembold; one brother, Les (Myrna) Reese; and by her extended family & many good friends.
The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., on Saturday (10/8) at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 Noon. Interment will be at Poplar Hill Cemetery.
