Obituary

ZULA, Gearldine “Geri” age 80 of Huber Heights, passed away Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Miami Valley Hospital.  Geri was born September 7, 1940 in Campabella, South Carolina, daughter of the late W.J. & Ethel May (Pruitt) Perry.  Serving the Lord and her church was Geri’s passion.  She was an active member with the First Light Church, formerly First Baptist Church, Vandalia where she spent over 30 years in the Food Ministry.  She blessed her family and friends with the gift of cooking and prepared thousands of meals for the Classics group and the Wednesday night services at church.  The Lord called her to serve, and He placed her in the perfect spot to share her gifts with others.  Geri loved her Lord and her family, and truly enjoyed following BMX racing with her grandson.

Geri is survived by her beloved husband, Tom; 3 daughters, Tamra Jean Ison, Kathryn Smith and Vicky Lynn Gary; 3 sons, James Vernon Smith, Danny Ray Smith and Billy Zula; grandchildren, Tommy, Taylor, Katie, Collin & Austin, along with numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 pm, Friday, May 7 at First Light Church, 140 Elva Ct., Vandalia with Mr. John Seagraves officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until time of service.  In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in Geri’s name to the charity of your choice.
