Frieda I. Hellmund

Age 81, of West Milton, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at Miami Valley Hospital – Main Campus. Frieda was born August 24, 1941 in New Lebanon, to the late Lawrence & Ruby (Hayner) Leis. In addition to her parents, Frieda was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Arthur R. “Duke” Hellmund, Jr.; two brothers, Bernard Leis and Kermit Leis & his wife, Rita.

Frieda was a member of Polk Grove Church for the past 20 years. She was an avid bowler, bird watcher and sports enthusiast.

Frieda is survived by two children, Clifford Hellmund & his wife, Karen and Elaine Jacobs & her husband, Mark; five grandchildren, Adam (Stefanie), Megan (Ian), Jordan, Samantha (Alex) & Dylan; two great grandchildren, Leo & Charlie; siblings, Delbert, Lenora, Glenn (Connie) and Suella; her sister-in-law, Doris; and by her extended family & many good friends.

The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Tuesday, November 22, at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Robert Smitley officiating. Interment will be at Miami Valley Memory Gardens in Centerville.

In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made in memory of Frieda to The Hospice of Dayton.
