Emmett Hunt Obituary

HUNT, Emmett Leroy, age 91 of Union passed away peacefully Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Stonespring of Vandalia.  He was born April 1, 1929 in Cynthiana, Kentucky, son of the late Leroy “Roy” and Lena Mae (Toadvine) Hunt.  Emmett grew up with three older sisters, the youngest being 8 years older than Emmett.  He was definitely the “baby” of the family.  After graduating from Oddville High School, Emmett followed his sisters to the “Big City” of Dayton, Ohio to look for work because he was certainly NOT a farmer at heart!   He worked with Frigidaire and DP&L before settling into his 40-year career with Borden Dairy.

Emmett was a highly competitive and avid sports fan.  He was inducted into the City of Dayton Softball Hall of Fame, was a UK Wildcats Fan, enjoyed golf, basketball, bowling, and playing euchre.

Preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Madge, his daughter, Cindy Whittaker and his 3 sisters, Gail Mullins, Loraine Case and Eloise Haubauch, Emmett is survived by his son, Rex Hunt (Vicki); daughter, Dawn Hunt Manns (Joel); grandchildren, Wendi Christopher, Justin Whittaker, Brandi Martin, Toby Peacock, Holli McDonald, Jamey Dorn and Kendell Limburgh; son-in-law, Danny Whittaker, along with a wonderful extended family and many friends.

Graveside service for Emmett will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, 8200 W. National Rd., New Carlisle, OH with Pastor Bob Vogelmann officiating.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society in honor of his daughter, Cindy.

For the safety of the Hunt family and all of those attending services, please wear a mask and practice social distancing while at the cemetery.
