Earl Pittman Obituary

PITTMAN, Earl J., age 75, of Vandalia, went peacefully to join the Lord, Thursday, September 1, 2022.  Earl was born February 9, 1947 in Atlanta, Georgia, son of the late Joseph and Cora Lee (Phillips) Pittman.  Earl was a proud U.S. Army veteran who spent his military career working alongside the Marine Corp.

Earl loved music and sang with gospel group, The Lords of Harmony! He loved singing and doing ministry on the road with his family, his late wife Cosetta, “Cozy”, his oldest daughter Shaye, his son Sean, and his youngest Isaac. After Cozy’s passing in 1989, the Lord brought a ray of sunshine and hope back into his life through his new wife, Beverly.

Bev and Earl loved hiking, watching old John Wayne and I love Lucy episodes, adventures in nature, rescuing and adopting older dogs, singing and playing music together, and trips with the entire family to Gatlinburg. Earl, though a man of few words at times, loved big. Loved his family,  and loved His Savior!!  Earl was known for many things, but I think his favorites were being known as A Father, a brother, an uncle, a husband, a father-in-law, a grandpa, a mentor, a pastor, a friend and as “Earl The Pearl” Pittman. He loved BIG with that larger than life smile and gave hugs that swallowed you up. He was and will remain known for the legacy of love he has now left behind.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 7 at First Grace – Dayton, 2624 Stonequarry Rd., Dayton, OH 45414 with Pastor Bruce Jackson officiating.   Interment with military honors will follow at Riverside Cemetery, West Milton.  The family will receive friends at First Grace – Dayton on Tuesday, September 6, from 4-7 pm.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Aullwood Farm or to the Wounded Warrior Project in Earl’s memory.  Arrangements entrusted to Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia, Ohio.
