Delores Latta Obituary

Delores (Dee) Latta passed away on Monday, August 23.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Don Latta and her parents, Freda and Dale Moody. She is survived by her brother, Larry Moody; two children, David Latta and Denise (Dana) Kenworthy; two grandchildren, Brandon (Heather) Walton and Sara Walton; and two great-grandchildren, Brett and Riley Walton.

Delores Moody was born on April 19, 1936 to Freda and Dale Moody in Glouster, Ohio. She graduated from Corning High School in 1953. The next year she married Don Latta. They went on to raise a family while traversing the midwest. They lived in Mansfield, OH, Huntington, WV, Pittsburgh, PA, Columbus, OH, and ultimately settled in Tipp City, OH. In addition to being a homemaker and a mother, Dee also worked for Leland Electrosystems.

Dee was many things, but most importantly she was the glue that held her family together. She was the calm sea amid a group of fiery, quick-tempered, opinionated family members. Dee kept family events running smoothly and always had a kind, empathetic word for everyone. She was patient, rarely flustered, and steadfast in her faith that we are all God’s children.

She had many passions, many of which she shared with friends and family. Dee loved crafts, flowers, cooking, reading, and playing games. She stayed active in her community and church through her passions. She played bridge with friends and participated in garden club and book club. She loved game nights with friends and family.

Dee was the grandmother that taught important life skills like sewing, gardening, and cooking. If you were lucky enough to ride in her car to the Outer Banks, the car came equipped with every game you could imagine and she would play all of them with you for twelve hours…twice.

Dee was a dedicated member of the Tipp City United Methodist Church for decades. Her faith was unwavering and her family is delighted to know that after more than 10 years apart, her and Don are reunited in his eternal glory.

The family will be receiving friends from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Monday, August 30, at the Tipp City United Methodist Church, 8 West Main Street, Tipp City, Ohio 45371. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. Dan Glover officiating. Interment will be at Dew Cemetery in Perry County, Ohio.
