Constance Mays Obituary

Constance “Connie” L. Mays (nee Plummer)

Age 84, of Dayton, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on May 20, 2020.  She was born on December 31, 1935 to Wilbur and Sophia (nee Bochenek) Plummer. She married Ronald F. Mays of Piqua, Ohio, on September 3, 1955.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 46 years, Ron, and her brother, Phil Plummer.   

She is survived by her sister, brothers, and sisters-in-law: Frances (James) King, Thomas and Joseph (Rose) Plummer, Kay and Sue Plummer.  She also survived by her children:  Mark (Monica) Mays, Greg (Joni) Mays, Lori Weaver, Eric (Brenda) Mays, and Denise (Rich) Mays.  She is also survived by several grandchildren: Mandi (Aaron) Jeter, Justin (Ashley) Mays, Mallory (Justin) Plummer, Brandon Mays, Marcus Mays, Jordan (Michelle) Gutwein, Audrey (Zak) Trimble, Maty (Jason) Brown, Megan Mays, Jacob Gutwein, Allison (Alex) Lovely, and Ashley (Austin) James.  There are also several great-grandchildren:  Kaelyn, Brody, Ryan, Ava, Ella, Kallie, Kameron, Adalynn, Jaxon, Tessa, Hunter, Riley, Charlotte, Layla, and Lynlee and Baby James before the end of the year. Connie is also survived by many other family and friends. 

Connie was a lifelong member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church and the Polish Club of Dayton and a longtime fan of the Oak Ridge Boys.  But most of all she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. 

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made in the name of Connie Mays to Hospice of Dayton. 

The family would like to thank the staff of Stone Spring in Vandalia for all the loving care they have shown Connie and also that staff of Hospice of Dayton for all the care and attention. 

Graveside services for Connie will be held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 26, at Calvary Cemetery. For those who wish to view, the casket will be open at the cemetery. The procession to Calvary Cemetery will leave Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia, Ohio 45377 at 11:00 a.m. Anyone who would like to be part of the procession should arrive at the funeral home prior to 11:00 a.m.
