HALL, Clarence F. “Fred” age 76 of Vandalia, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at the Preserve of Beavercreek. Fred was born May 9, 1945 in Dayton, Ohio the only child of the late Clarence and Grace (Wood) Hall. He was a 1963 graduate of Vandalia-Butler High School and proudly served his country as a veteran of the U.S. army and his community as a 10+ year member of the Butler Township Fire Department.
Fred was an avid and successful farmer, a carpenter with the local carpenters union, and an extensive traveler, having traveled to 48 of the 50 states and overseas twice. Fred was an adventurous lover of life, enjoyed all things food and was the true definition of a “snowbird,” being as much as a Floridian as an Ohioan.
One of the most important things to Fred was his advocacy and sponsorship for AA for over 30 years.
Preceded in death by his parents, Fred is survived by his son, Rick Hall (Krista), and daughter, Penelope Rose Smith (Phil); 5 grandchildren, Ashlee, Megan, Madison, Sarah, and Isaac; 4 great-grandchildren, Carson, Gabby, Caiden and Cameron, along with extended family and friends too numerous to count.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Fred at 5:00 pm, Saturday, January 15, 2022 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 3:00 pm until time of service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to the Hospice of your choice in Fred's memory.
