WATSON, Charles E., Jr., 67, of Vandalia, passed away Friday, Apr. 29, 2022. He was born to the late Charles & Gretchen Watson on Jan. 19, 1955 in Dayton, Ohio.
Survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Donna; 2 children, Loren Mowen (Christopher) and Emrys Watson (born Jennifer); brother, Andrew “Andy” Scott (Marilyn); sister, Deborah Watson; numerous nieces, nephews & many friends.
Charlie loved being in the outdoors – hunting for mushrooms, camping, fishing, hiking, watching thunderstorms. Music was a huge part of his life – playing at parties, campfires, onstage and at home. He could spend hours picking his favorite melodies on any of his many guitars. He was extremely mechanically minded. He loved slapstick comedy like the Three Stooges, the Marx Brothers, and Looney Tunes, especially Bugs Bunny. His personal heroes included Jimi Hendrix, Nikola Tesla, Emeril Lagasse, Alton Brown, and the authors of The Federalist Papers. He was an avid reader – his favorites included the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, the Harry Potter series, and the dictionary. He loved to make people laugh. He loved animals and got a kick out of kids. He loved to cook, especially breakfast, and there was never any problem that the right kitchen gadget couldn’t fix. He was a multi-faceted man and will be deeply missed by those who loved him.
