Charles Swartz

SWARTZ, Charles E. “Shorty”, age 79 of Tipp City, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2023 at Springmeade Health Center.  He was born April 6, 1943 in Dayton, Ohio, son of the late Clarence Arnold and Loretta Blanche (Wheelock) Swartz.  He was a graduate of Vandalia-Butler High School, a U.S. Army veteran and worked as an engineer and programmer.  He was also a member of the American Trapshooting Association and the American Legion Post #586 in Tipp City. Shorty and his wife, Kathryn were also members of the Gem City Classics Car Club in Dayton for over 30 years.

Preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Mary Helen and one brother, George Joseph, nephew, David Swartz, brother-in-law, Donald Gastomsky, Charles is survived by his wife of 36 years, Kathryn (Benson) Swartz; son, Rick, daughter, Tammy, sister, Patricia “Patti” Gostomsky; grandchildren, Alex, Alexis, Lena and Elijah; one great-grandson, along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, March 17, 2023 at Calvary Baptist Church, 1045 Monroe-Concord Rd, Troy, OH with Pastor Greg Steinke officiating.  Interment will follow Maple Hill Cemetery, Tipp City.   The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 noon until time of service.  Arrangements entrusted to Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia.
