BETTY ANN ARDEN
Age 92, of Vandalia, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Stonespring of Vandalia Nursing
Home. Betty was born April 17, 1929 to her parents Alonzo & Margaret (Cones) Walters. She
was preceded in death by her loving husband Raymond Arden Sr. (72 years of marriage), son,
Raymond Arden Jr., her parents, and four siblings.
She retired from the Vandalia city school system as a cafeteria employee. Betty graduated from
Roosevelt high school in Dayton, Ohio and was in the play “Pirates of Penzance”, one of her alltime
favorite plays. Betty enjoyed singing and playing the piano throughout the years. One of
her favorite things to do was vacation at Caribou Lake with her family. As many can attest to,
she was a wonderful baker and loved cooking for her family. She was happiest when they were
all together.
She is survived by three sons, Steve (Sheryl), Tim (Carol) and Randy (Carol); seven
grandchildren, Aaron, Hannah, and Katie, Chris and Ben, Josh and Lyndsey; eleven great
grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Betty joined the First Church of the Nazarene located at 7031 N. Main St., Dayton, Ohio 45415
over 80 years ago and was the oldest living charter member until her death. Visitation will be
from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm, on Wednesday, July 21 at the church. Funeral services will follow at
12:30 pm. with Pastor Stanley Ward officiating. Interment will be at Poplar Hill Cemetery,
Vandalia.
