Barbara Jean Cox
Heaven welcomed Barbara Jean Cox (nee Barnett) of Vandalia, who passed peacefully on January 22, 2022. Barbara celebrated her 90th birthday with family and friends in October. She was a devoted and loving mother to three children Glen Cox (Jan), Glendia Copp (Doug), and Greg Cox; grandmother to Kim Koterba (Dan), Allie Fischer (Ross), David Copp (Sarah), Shelly Frank (Ryan), and Adam Cox (Gina); and great-grandmother to Lily, Danny, Gus, Elly, Daisy, Sam, Titus, Kate, Will, Luke, Anderson, Rocco, and Luca. She leaves behind a loving, devoted companion of nine years, Don Stockslager.
Barbara was born on October 6, 1931 in Hazard, Kentucky. She moved to Ohio as a young teenager where she later met and married Glen A. Cox who preceded her in death after 61 years of marriage. They raised their family while residing in Vandalia for over 50 years. Barbara worked at Ledex Industries and retired from there in 1980.
Always filling a room with her laughter, Barbara was fun-loving, fearless and passionate. She loved to dance and over the years won many awards. She enjoyed spending her days entertaining her family and closest friends by the backyard pool, cooking and baking, and providing special memories for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an amazing cook and made the best peanut butter fudge. She enjoyed gardening and working in her yard. She won numerous Beautification Awards in both Vandalia and West Carrollton. Those beautiful flowers were a direct reflection of her spirit.
Barbara attended Vandalia United Methodist Church and Polk Grove United Church of Christ. She believed the Holy Spirit guided and watched over her throughout her life. We know she is rejoicing and dancing in Heaven.
