Barbara L Karns-Link

KARNS-LINK, Barbara L. (Goodner), age 91, of Brookville, formerly of Vandalia, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully Monday, February 22, 2021 at Hospice of Dayton.  She was born October 5, 1929, on her father’s birthday, to the late Grover S. & Katie (Johnson) Goodner of Arcanum, OH. 

Barbara was always active throughout her life and lived it to the fullest, enjoying her garden club, Lioness Club, her 9-Hole golf league and card club.  She volunteered at Miami Valley Hospital for over 24 years.    Barb enjoyed her work at Karns Cabinet Shop, which she owned with her husband, Bill.  She was also employed at Price Stores where she managed the bridal shop for 17 years. 

Barb was preceded in death by Bill B. Karns, her husband of 49 years and her second husband, Marvin C. Link; brothers, Delay, John, and Claude Goodner; sisters, Eva Nell Devor, Frances Moormann, Helen Shank, Edna Barga and Inez Goubeaux.   She is survived by her children, Kirk (Sue) Karns, Claudia (Rick) Klopfer, April Rayner and Joel (Karen) Karns; grandchildren, Eric (Kristen) Klopfer, Samantha (Lucas) Bauer, Grae (Laura) Rayner, Chelsea (Robert) Jones, Jared Karns, Riley Karns; step-grandson, Chris Klopfer and 10 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by a special brother-in-law, Richard F. Goubeaux; sister-in-law, Marcia Rhoades and her beloved dog, Cricky. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, March 1 at the Vandalia United Methodist Church, 200 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Rev. Michael Malcosky officiating.  Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 2-4 pm.   If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton or to Vandalia United Methodist Church in Barbara’s memory.  Arrangements entrusted to Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia.
