Wilma Jean Ward

Wilma Jean Ward (nee: Kershner)

Age 91 passed away Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Otterbein (SpringMeade) in Tipp City, Ohio. Wilma was born on August 25, 1934 in Vandalia, Ohio and was the daughter of Bryan and Audrey (Chitwood) Kershner. 

Wilma was a lifelong resident of the Vandalia/Butler Township area and a Vandalia Butler High Alum (1952). Wilma worked for and retired from the YWCA of Dayton after many years of service. 

She is survived by her beloved son, Ross Ward, whom she raised as a single mom in the 1960’s and her beloved daughter-in-law, Vicki Ward. She is also survived by numerous nieces & nephews. 

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, Bryan Kershner, Sr. and Audrey Kershner (Chitwood), her brothers, Bryan Jr. (Red) Kershner (Frieda) and Donald Kershner (Jane). 

There will be no services per her wishes with a private burial at Polk Grove Cemetery. Morton & Whetstone funeral home entrusted with arrangements.
