William (Bill) Herman, 91, of Vandalia, Ohio, passed away on February 24, 2026. He was born to Alphonse and Regina Herman in Chicago, IL, on August 3, 1934. A devout member of St. Christopher Catholic Church in Vandalia, Bill’s greatest passions were his faith, his family, his dogs, and sports.
Bill dedicated 25 years to the NCR Corporation and later worked at Meijer in Troy, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice; his brothers, John Sr., Al, and Don; his sister, Joan Neary; and his step-son, James.
He is survived by his five step-children: Cynthia Doner, John Herman, Ellen McGaughey, Dave Herman, and Tom Herman; numerous grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. Quick-witted and kind, Bill made a lasting impression on everyone he met. The family wishes to express deep gratitude to his friends at Danbury, who made his final years so fulfilling.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 4th, 2026 at 11:00 AM at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 435 East National Road, Vandalia with Fr. Chibueze Asiegbulem officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00 PM at Walnut Hill Cemetery in New Hampshire, Ohio. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 3rd, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 South Dixie Drive, Vandalia, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association in honor of Bill’s life and legacy. Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing he leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to guide us. William Herman will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
