BRUSMAN, William C., 88, of Vandalia, Ohio, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026. Born on March 26, 1938, Bill was a lifelong member of the Vandalia community, where he built a life centered on family, hard work, friendship, and service to others.

A 1956 graduate of Butler High School, Bill went on to attend Wittenberg University, where he met the love of his life, Carolyn. They shared 64 years of marriage together and built a close and devoted family that remained the center of Bill’s life.

Bill spent a long and successful career in the restaurant business in Vandalia. He was best known as co-owner of The Original Rib House, where for 37 years he welcomed generations of customers with hard work, pride, and friendship.

Throughout his life, Bill stayed active and involved in his community. Over the years, he served in the U.S. Army Reserve, worked as a Butler Township Police Officer, volunteered with the American Red Cross, and enjoyed membership at Troy Country Club. He especially loved trap shooting, golfing, and hunting.

Bill will be remembered for his steady presence, strong work ethic, generosity, sense of humor, and deep love for his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Brusman; children Beth (Peter) Korda, Cory Brusman, and Renee Brusman; grandchildren Meredith Korda, Brian Korda, and Grace Harris; sister Julia Gearhart; sister-in-law Janet Brusman; and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Wilhelmina Brusman; his brother, H. David Brusman; and his brother-in-law, Ron Gearhart.

A celebration and visitation for family and friends will be held from 4-7p.m. Friday, May 15, 2026 at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia, OH. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 16, at the funeral home, with interment to follow at Popular Hill Cemetery.
