Wilbur L Roland

ROLAND, WILBUR L., (WILL) (DOC), age 90 of Vandalia, passed away Sunday, November 14, 2010 after a short illness. He was born August 2, 1920 in Rockford, IL, son of the late Albert A. & Flossie C. (Johnson) Roland. He was a former employee of J.B. Webb Co; Foreman Industries and Orbit Machinery Movers working as a millwright general foreman. He was a WWII Navy Veteran. Will was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vandalia, The United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners of America, Millwright Local 1311 & American Legion Post # 668. Will is survived by his wife of 59 years, Iris E. Roland; 3 sons, Alan & wife Janice Roland, Barry & wife Tina Roland, Darrin & wife Molly Roland; 4 granddaughters, Jennifer Roland-Lewis, Carrie Roland-McGee, Kelly Roland-Dampier & Stephine Perry; 2 great granddaughters, Madison Lewis & Abigail McGee and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by 5 brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday November 17 at the First Baptist Church of Vandalia, 140 Elva Ct. with Pastor David Starry officiating. Burial at Poplar Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia on Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 P.M.
