SWOPE, Thomas A., 61, of Butler Township, passed away Monday, August 15, 2022 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. He was born to Thomas & Alice Swope on January 5, 1961 in Dayton, Ohio. Tom graduated from Northridge High School & MVCTC in 1979. He has been a Toolmaker for 43 years and currently employed by FC Industries.  He was a member of the Irish Club of Dayton where he served as a trustee and treasurer. Tom was a hard worker who loved his family & friends. He was drawn to the outdoors from an early age where he enjoyed kayaking, fishing, camping and loved attending car shows. Tom was a Cincinnati Bengals & huge Ohio State Buckeyes fan. He was an accomplished martial artist and Karate instructor holding the rank of 3rd degree black belt. Tom enjoyed tinkering around in his garage and working to fix up his MG to attend an upcoming Irish Club Car Show. He never met a stranger and generously donated his kidneys after his passing. Preceded in death by his parents, Thomas & Alice Swope; sister, Susan Harris; brother-in-law, Kraig Shanks.

Survived by his wife, Dyan Swope; daughter, Samantha; step son, Hunter Dice; sisters, Patty Schweickart (Carl) & Linda Shanks; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Ernie & Barb Pierson; brother-in-law, Ed Harris; nieces, Julie Haws & Leigh Tompkins; nephews, Chris Harris, Matt Harris (Diane) & Jared Shanks; many other relatives & friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, August 28th at 12 noon at the Irish Club of Dayton, 6555 Dog Leg Road, Dayton, OH 45414. Arrangements entrusted to the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia. If desired, memorial contributions can be made to the Irish Club Scholarship Fund or Brave Breed Rescue.
