Thelma Ruth Wright

Age 98, formerly of Vandalia, passed away Monday, October 5, 2026 in Mason, Ohio. She was born February 4, 1928 in Winchester, Ohio to the late Harry & Esta (Ayers) Morris. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Lewis M. Wright; her daughter, Sonja Jones-Stephenson; grandson, Brent Jones; six brothers, Dave, Paul, Dale, Charles Edwin, William Berse, Burtrum “Burt”; and by four sisters, Genevieve, Audrey, Ann & Marlene.

Thelma was an avid Reds fan (even when they were losing), she enjoyed playing cards and was a lover of music. She especially enjoyed listening to her great grandson, Drew, play the piano and ukulele for her.

Thelma is survived by one son, Mark Wright & his wife, Kathy; five grandchildren, Brian, Brad, Dustin, Danielle & Dawn; four great grandchildren, Jaxon, Camden, Aria & Andrew; one sister, Freda Wallace; two brothers, Floyd Morris & his wife, Anne and Ron Morris & his wife, Liz; two special nieces who visited her on a weekly basis, Judy Askren & Barbara Wood; and by her extended family & many good friends.

The family will be receiving friends from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 9, at Morton & Whetstone funeral home, 139 S. Dixie Drive, Vandalia. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Chaplain Joe officiating. Interment will follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery.
