Thayla M. Mercer

Thayla M. Mercer Age 82, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2015. She was born May 28, 1932 in Dayton to the late Floyd & Florence (Green) Mallette. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Donald C. Mercer, in 2003; and by four siblings. Thayla was a member of Stillwater Seventh Day Adventist Church (formerly Far Hills SDA Church), the Polish & Czechoslovakian Club and she danced with the love of her life, Donald. She is survived by her daughter, Jan Mercer-Whitmer; son, John Mercer; three grandchildren, Chaunda (Ryan) Hopkins, Jacob (Leslee) Mercer & Nicholas Mercer; and by four great grandsons. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday (1/23) at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Pastor David Hutman will officiate. Interment will follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
