In Loving Memory of Ted Spangler

February 26, 1968- July 25, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ted Spangler, who left us far too soon at the age of 57.

Ted was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a loyal friend to many. He spent 32 years married to Suzy, the love of his life, building a life filled with travel, date nights, and enough love to go around. Ted described his four children as the best of himself and his wife. His pride in them was boundless, and he believed in them more than anything. His wife and their children will deeply miss his guidance, encouragement, and ever-present sense of humor.

Ted’s career was spent hustling and making deals, in both the automotive industry and the home mortgage industry. Whether at home or at work, he could be counted on to be wheeling and dealing, making lifelong friends along the way.

Ted had a deep appreciation for the simple things in life - good food, good music, the sun on his face, and time with loved ones. He also was a lifelong car aficionado and maintained an impressive wine collection. Ted was always quick to laugh or crack a joke and knew how to put anyone at ease. He was willing to be a friend to all; to know Ted was to be his friend.

Though his time with us was far too short, the legacy that Ted leaves behind is immeasurable. Ted showed us the value of humor, and that there is no time like the present for enjoying life and pursuing those things which bring us joy.

Ted will be forever missed by his wife, Suzy, their four kids, Laurel (Patrick), Graham, Eleanor, and Hazel, and all who were lucky enough to know him.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Christopher Catholic Church in Vandalia at 11:30 AM on August 9th. A celebration of his life will be held behind the Amvets Post 99 at 1123 South Brown School Road in Vandalia on the same day from 2:00 PM to whenever the party dies down. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to The Spangler Family GoFundMe page for the family’s current and future needs or the American Heart Association in Ted’s memory.
