Susan Phillips

PHILLIPS, Susan, age 84 of Greenwood, Indiana, formerly of Vandalia, passed away Monday, August 4, 2025 at Demaree Crossing in Greenwood. She was born, September 3, 1940, in Charleston, West Virginia, daughter of the late James & Marie (McMillan) Short. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Ohio University and went on to positively impact the lives of many students as she spent a 30-year career teaching in the Northmont City School District.

Susan loved reading, traveling, winters in Florida, and enjoying the arts.

Susan is survived by her loving husband of 61years, Harry Phillips; son, Noel, daughter-in-law Mary, grandchildren Paul Ludlow (Alyssa) and Elizabeth George (Brad), and great-grandchildren Eleanor, Kieran, Rowan, Cora, Evalynn and Charlotte.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm, Friday, August 8 at the Vandalia United Methodist Church, 200 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Pastor Michael Malcosky officiating. Interment to follow at Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 10:00 am until time of service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association or the Alzheimer’s Association.
