McQUEEN, Steven A., “Steve” age 69, of Huber Heights, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Miami Valley Hospital. Steve was born April 24, 1955 in Rolla, Missouri, son of the late John & Helen (McQueen) Tennyson. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, proudly serving for 7 years before working at UES for 15 years and ultimately retiring after 25 years of service with Schwan’s Global Services.
Steve was an active member of First Light Church in Vandalia where he served as a deacon and spent his Sunday mornings faithfully serving in the children’s department. He loved classic cars, especially his 1966 Impala that brought him such joy later in life. He had a passion for cycling and rode hundreds of miles, including riding 62 miles on his 62nd birthday! Steve was a true servant leader, and one of his most important acts of service was the commitment to donating blood. Steve donated over 100 times and even in poor health was hoping to find a way to continue his mission.
Steve is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Suzy of Huber Heights; one daughter, Melissa Tarzinski of Vandalia; one son, Michael McQueen of Huber Heights; 7 grandchildren, Austin (fiancé, Courtney) Tarzinski, Amber Ross (Tony), Aaron and Ashlyn Tarzinski, Haley, Bella and Curtis Combs; 2 great-grandchildren, Owen Ross and James LeVan; 2 brothers, John Tennyson (Barb), and Jim Tennyson; 1 sister, Judy Howard (Reggie); his mother-in-law, Lucille Vincent (Jim Teague); along with his large extended family and many wonderful friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 pm, Saturday, August 10 at First Light Church, 140 Elva Ct., Vandalia with Mr. John Seagraves officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 11 am until time of service. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to First Light Church – Children’s Department in Steve’s memory.
