Shirley passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at age 90.

She was preceded in death by her husband James L. Turvene, parents Roy and Gertrude (Magoto) York, in-laws Hugh Sr. and Alma (Baker) Turvene, brothers and spouses Norbert (Imogene) York, Gerald (Betty) York, Allen York, Anthony York, sister Norma (Jack) Hunter, and brother- in- law and sister-in-law Hugh Jr. and Dorothy Turvene, nephew, Tom Ice.

She is survived by son Mark Turvene, daughters Cindy Turvene and Cathy Bratton, son-in-law Randy Bratton and niece Pam (Tom) Ice, 5 grandchildren, Benjamin (Megan) Noble, Stephanie Ankney, Scott Hall, Isaac (Leah Medley) Bratton and Isabella Bratton and 3 great- grandchildren Brooklynn, Colton and Beckett Noble, brothers Fred (Linda) York, David (Linda) York, John (Becky) York, Tom York, Paul (Julia) York, sisters Patty (Kenny) Prior, Rosemary (Gordon) Buckner, sister- in- law Joyce (Allen) York, and numerous (and extended) nieces and nephews.

Shirley was born June 17, 1935, grew up in Northridge, and graduated from Northridge High School where she met her husband of 53 years. She was a resolute coach’s wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and in-law. After her children were grown, she was an accounting supervisor for Southland Corporation, a 7/11 subsidiary.

The family would like to thank Brookdale Senior Living of Englewood, Heartland Hospice of Springfield, caregivers, and nurses who genuinely loved and cared for her these past few years and the Miami Valley Hospital North medical team who managed her final week.

A Memorial Mass will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dayton, 411 East Second Street, officiated by Father Anthony Angelo, C.PP.S., Saturday, August 23, at 10:00 AM with a reception to follow.

Arrangements entrusted to the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia, Ohio.
