Shirley Turnington

Age 96, of Dayton, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, September 11, 2023. Shirley was born August 29, 1927 in Hindman, Kentucky to the late Curtis & May (Pratt) Bentley.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, John, in 2019; daughter, Sharon Turnington; grandson, Kenneth Scott Turnington; great grandson, Maxwell Turnington; and by four siblings, Edna V., Sharlene, Forster & Mildred.

Shirley is survived by three children, Kenneth Turnington & his wife, Barbie, Karen Hurt and Teresa Brown & her husband, Rick; seven grandchildren, Mike, Krisi, Jeff, Tara, Tina, Shonda & Kelly; eleven great grandchildren, Cody, Tyler, Lexy, Ashlee, Emily, Cory, Cassie, Ryan, Jacey, Alyssa & Grady; five great great grandchildren, Bentley, Blakely, Briggs, Finnley & Brynn; five siblings, Juanita, Gladys, Maggie, Erma & Bobby; and by several nieces and nephews.

The family will be receiving friends from 1:00 – 2:00 pm, on Monday, September 18, at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Interment will follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made in memory of Shirley to The Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Avenue, Dayton, Ohio 45420.
