Shirley Mae Hartkorn

Shirley Mae Hartkorn, 86, of Kettering, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2026. She was born to the late Lawrence & Hazel Atkins on February 11, 1940 in Waverly, Ohio. Shirley loved to travel anywhere across the country to visit family and friends. She loved nature, animals, and flowers. She was an avid bingo player and loved going to the casino with her daughter. She loved doing crafts and taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, Herman E. Hartkorn, in 2000.

Survived by her daughter, Cheryl L. Hartkorn; son, Mark D. Hartkorn; grandchildren, Zachary, Phillip, Daniel, Sarah & Oliva; great grandchildren, Noah & Kaitlyn; sister, Sue Everhart; many other relatives & friends.

Graveside service 11 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2026 at the Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery, Sec. 10. Arrangements entrusted to the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either the Montgomery County Animal Rescue, Humane Society of Greater Dayton Adoption Center or SICSA Pet Adoption & Wellness Center.
