Saundra E. (nee: Mutter) Espich
Age 77, of Vandalia, passed into Heaven on Thursday, April 17, 2025, after a two-year battle with kidney cancer. Saundra – most people called her Sandy - was the “middle child” born in Springfield, Ohio to Roger & Wilma Mutter. She was preceded in death by her parents, younger brother, Mark, and nephew, Calloway D. Lawson.
She is survived by her sister, Joyce Lawson, brother-in-law, Cal Lawson, and her niece, Kari Lawson-Upchurch.
In her high school days the entire family worked and lived at the Melody Drive-in Theater enjoying a unique fun and growing up experience. Sandy graduated from Shawnee High School, class of 1965. She earned her Master’s degree from the University of Dayton and retired from AT&T with 35 years of service, during which she traveled all over the world as a representative for sales of new systems.
Sandy was very athletic, enjoying playing golf, an avid tennis player, and a long- distance bike rider with friends. She also loved snow skiing and enjoyed the slopes in Utah & Colorado. She was an award-winning downhill skier. She also liked to play the slots at Hollywood Casino. She was also a life member of the Lions Sight Research Foundation in San Antonio, Texas. Sandy will be missed by many.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the doctors & nurses at Kettering Hospital and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center for the loving care and attention they gave to Sandra.
