Sally K. Owens

Sally K. (Suess) Owens, age 66, was born on May 28, 1958, and passed away on May 21, 2025.

Sally enjoyed and loved her family, who were the most important thing in her life. Not only did she love them, but she always said she truly liked the company of her husband, children, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, and grandchildren. Sally asked that we remember and retell all the funny stories and wonderful times we shared that brought her such joy.

Sally attended Sinclair Community College. After graduating, she worked at Sinclair for a short period as secretary to an educational advisor. Sally went on to become an administrative assistant in two school districts for a total of 40 years. She worked eleven years at Northridge Schools and 29 years at her alma mater Vandalia-Butler City Schools. During those years at Vandalia-Butler Schools, she was an administrative assistant in Human Resources, and for the last 15 years as an administrative assistant to three Superintendents. Sally retired in 2021.

She was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church since 1960 when she moved to Vandalia as a child with her family from Wisconsin.

Sally was preceded in death by her wonderful parents James and Marie Suess.

Sally is survived by her husband, Mike (46 years of marriage), daughter Sarah Owens (Neal Paul), son Aaron Owens (Brittany Owens), and granddaughters Madilynne Owens and Lillian Paul. Her sister Ann Reynolds (Robert Reynolds), brothers Robert Suess (Barb Scholtz) and Richard Suess (Donna Suess), brother-in-law Bill Owens and sister-in-law Barb Owens, many nieces and nephews and many friends and close former co-workers from Vandalia-Butler Schools (Rose Suman, Rebecca Bush, Sue Cupp, and Christy Donnelly to name a few).

She had planned to stay with us longer to enjoy life, family, and friends. Her wonderful life was cut far too short. Sally asks that you remember her if you see a yellow butterfly.

Sally’s family will be receiving friends Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at Morton & Whetstone funeral home, 139 S Dixie Dr, Vandalia, OH 45377. Her funeral will take place Friday, May 30, 2025, at 11:00am following the funeral burial will take place at Dayton Memorial Park cemetery.
