Ruth E Lewis

Lewis, Ruth of Vandalia, born March 29, 1922; passed away Saturday, March 7, 2009 at Grandview Hospital. Ruth is survived by her husband of 67 years, Howard; daughter Bonnie Bird Hurban, and son Howard David Lewis; two brothers, Donald Faber and Richard Faber, and one sister, Winnie Strehle, along with 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Ruth became a Jehovahs Witness in 1952 and shortly thereafter became a Pioneer , devoting 100 hours a month to the ministry. She continued this endeavor for over 50 years. She also authored a book entitled My Search for God , relating her many experiences in the ministry. She will be sorely missed by the many who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, March 11 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5-8 pm.
