Ruth A. Elkins

ELKINS, Ruth A. (Lowrey), 97, of Northridge (Dayton), passed away Friday, June 12, 2026 at her home. She was born to Henry & Ethel Lowrey on Dec. 11, 1928 in Dayton, Ohio. Ruth was a member of the North Dayton Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, in 1999, and her brothers, Gene, Marvin “Bub,” and Jay Lowrey; son-in-law, Al Starnes. Survived by sons, Greg (Pamela) Elkins, Gary (Crystal) Elkins, Russel (Joni) Elkins; daughters, Nancy (Lee Roy) Bryant, Patricia Starnes; adopted daughter, Norma Centers; sister-in-law, Sally Lowrey; 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren & one great great grandchild on the way; nephew, Tim Lowrey; her good neighbor, Dan; many other relatives & friends. 

The family will receive friends 12-1 p.m. Thursday, Jun. 18, at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia, with the funeral service at 1 p.m. Pastor C. Scott Ritz, officiating. The burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton in Ruth’s memory.
