WATSON, Rondal “Ron” D., 71, of Vandalia, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2022. He was born to Ishmael & Reatha Watson on July 25, 1951 in Dayton, Ohio. Ron retired from General Motors after 27 years of service. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran and long time member and trustee of AMVETS #99. Survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Cheryl Watson; daughter, Stephanie Watson Crist (Darrell Thomas); brothers, Gary Watson (Louisa), Larry Watson & Rodger Watson; sister, Joanne Roderer; sister-in-law, Sandra Johnson; grandson, Joshua Crist; numerous nieces, nephews & many friends.
“Ron had a kind heart, a wonderful sense of humor, and a quick wit; all of which were guaranteed to bring a smile to the faces of anyone he knew. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Ron didn’t know a stranger and made everyone feel welcome in his presence. He worked hard and built a life he enjoyed and a family he loved with his whole heart. Listening to music, working on his classic cars, and spending time with his family and friends were how he lived his best days. He was the best and most loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Ron was truly the rarest of gems and will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.”
The family will receive friends Saturday Aug. 6, from 12 noon until the service time of 2:00 p.m., at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Pastor Mark Willis, officiating. Cremation to follow. If desired, memorial contributions can be made to AMVET#99. Condolences can be shared at www.MortonWhetstoneFH.com.
