Roger D. Washburn

Age 79, of Carlisle, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2026. Roger was born June 11, 1946 in Mattoon, Illinois to the late Harold & Mary (Volk) Washburn.

Roger was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He retired as a mailman with the United States Postal Service with 46 years of service. He loved collecting antique oil lamps and was a great conversationalist (chatterbox).

Roger is survived by two children, Shawna Norris (Ron) and Jason Washburn (Lori); three grandchildren, Joshua (Tori), Hannah & Stella; one great granddaughter, Ellie; one brother, Jerry Washburn; nephew, Derik (Stephanie); nieces, Sheryl (Dan) & Treva; grandniece, Audrey; his very close friend, Nancy Grimes; and by his extended family & many good friends.

A celebration of Roger’s life will be held on Sunday, May 17, from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m., at the Irish Club of Dayton, 6555 Dog Leg Road, Dayton. Interment with military honors will be at Polk Grove Cemetery at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 18.

In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made in memory of Roger to the Tipp City VFW Post # 4615, 121 East Main St., Tipp City, Ohio 45371.
