Richard “Dick” Manson
of Vandalia, Ohio, born May 26, 1943, passed away on May 13, 2026, at the age of 82.
Dick was a devoted and loving husband to his wife, Veda Lynn (Gillott) Manson, and a proud father to daughter Kimberly (Brett) Schaefer and son Chad Manson. He was a loving grandfather to Cory (Amy) Schaefer and deeply cherished his role as great-grandfather to Maddox, August, Finley, and Rowan. He was also a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews, holding a special place in their lives through his kindness, humor, and guidance. Through his unwavering dedication, strength, and love for his family, Dick set a lasting example of what it meant to be a devoted husband, father, uncle, and friend.
He is survived by his brother, Larry Manson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Dorothy Manson; his brother, Edwin “Tim” Manson; and his sister, Linda Vore.
Dick proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy. Following his service, he had a long and fulfilling career with General Motors. Family and friends knew him as an incredibly hardworking man who approached life with determination, humor, and heart.
He found joy in woodworking, thrifting, collecting honey pots, and spending time playing cards with those he loved. Dick had a gift for making ordinary moments memorable and believed in living life to the fullest. Whether working with his hands, searching for hidden treasures, or sharing stories around the table, he brought love, laughter, and a good time everywhere he went.
A proud member of the Masonic fraternity, Dick valued the principles of brotherhood, service, and integrity throughout his life.
More than anything, Dick will be remembered for his deep love of family, his unwavering work ethic, and the steady presence he provided to everyone around him. His memory will live on through the many lives he touched and the family who loved him so deeply.
The family will be receiving friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 19, at Morton & Whetstone funeral home, 139 S. Dixie Drive, Vandalia. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Michael Malcosky officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery.
