Richard F. “Rick” Ganter

Age 72, of Vandalia, passed away Friday, June 5, 2026, at Miami Valley Hospital – Main Campus. Rick was born February 21, 1954 in Dayton to the late Frank & Violet (Butts) Ganter. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Phyllis; brother, Bill; and by one sister, Charlotte.

He retired from General Motors Truck & Bus Plant in 2002. For many years he served as a Fire Fighter & Paramedic with the Vandalia Fire Department having reached the rank of Captain. He was an avid ham radio enthusiast and a member of Skywarn (volunteer weather watchers) and he enjoyed playing guitar.

Rick is survived by his loving wife of the past 35 years, Dorothy R. (Becker) Ganter; one daughter, Cheryl Barto & her husband, Todd; three grandchildren, Brittany, Haley (Darren) & Leah; his dog, Lacey; and by his extended family and many good friends.

A celebration of Rick’s life will be held at a later date.
