Phyllis Jean Koester
Age 80 of Huber Heights, passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at Miami Valley Hospital. Phyllis was born July 31, 1941, in Dayton to the late Alvin and Hester (McPherson) Sheets.
A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend, Phyllis was a bright light to those around her. She enjoyed going to lunch with the girls (also known as the “lunch bunch”), getting her nails done, and shopping. A lover of unique clothing and fun jewelry, she was hardly ever seen in the same outfit twice—unless, of course, it was gameday for the Ohio State Buckeyes, when she’d proudly sport Buckeye garb head to toe. Alongside her for every game was her adorable 13-year-old Yorkie, Boozer “Boozie” Koester helping cheer the team on.
Phyllis had a knack for remembering important dates—anniversaries, birthdays, graduations… she remembered it all. Every Thursday she’d head to the salon for her weekly hair appointment. She knew the TV schedule down to the second so she wouldn’t miss her soaps. Phyllis always made sure people felt special on their big days, including calling her loved ones every year to sing happy birthday.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her father, Alvin Sheets; mother, Hester (McPherson) Sheets; brothers, Earl Smith, Ray Smith, and Ronnie Sheets; and by her husband, William J. “BK” Koester. She is survived by her daughter and son in-law, Eileen and Michael Crist; her son, William A. “Billy” Koester; her grandchildren, Sean Crist, Emmy Bell, and Emmy’s husband Chase Bell; and many other relatives, neighbors, and friends.
