Pauline Lakes
Age 84, of Dayton, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2025. Pauline was born April 21, 1941 in Dayton to the late Charley & Thelma (Clifford) Morgan. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband of 48 years, Wayne Monroe, who passed in 2009 and by her second husband of 12 years, Dorsey Lakes, who passed in 2025; two sons, Michael and Kevin Monroe; and by one sister, Donna Blakley.
Pauline was proud to have lived many years of her life as a “pastor’s wife” and during that time she greatly enjoyed teaching children’s church and was affectionately known as “Miss Pauline.” She loved her flowers and working in the yard. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she was known to have a Christmas tree up year around in her room at Grace Brethren Retirement Community.
Pauline is survived by one son, Scott Monroe & his wife, Leslie; daughters-in-law, Penny Monroe and Suzanne Monroe; four step-daughters, Nina & husband, Dennis Humphreys, Lisa & husband, Larry Hammons, Renee & husband, Kent Summers and Rhonda & husband, Denny Faulkner; 14 grandchildren, Matthew, Morgan (Edwin), Michael, Rachel, Nick, Neal (Mackenzie), DJ (Christie), Jared (Jenai), Elizabeth (Corey), Grant (Sierra), Jill (Dennis), Jake, Sammy (Emily) & Amy (Bryan); 18 great-grandchildren, Myla, Will, Caroline, Everett, Cora, Ian, Elis, Peyton, Lily, Eli, Silas, Lucas, Kinsley, Kenton, Mya, Khloe, Meadow and Sonny; four siblings, Paul (Glenda), Charlene (Don), Jack (Barb) and Carl (Jeanie); and by her extended family & many good friends.
The family will be receiving friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 27, at First Light Church, 140 Elva Court, Vandalia. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm with John Seagraves officiating. Interment will be at Polk Grove Cemetery.
