Vandalia, Ohio

HUBER, Patricia L., “Patty” age 54 of Vandalia, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, July 26, 2023.  Patty was born February 17, 1969 in Vandalia, Ohio.  She was a 1987 graduate of Wayne High School and earned two Master’s Degrees, one from Wright State University and one from the University of Dayton.  Patty was a devoted  Butler Aviator and her heart bled purple and gold.  She spent the past 24 years teaching in the Vandalia-Butler City School District, serving in a variety of roles, most notably her role as the always positive, always bubbly cheerleading advisor.  She loved her job, and the impact she made on student lives will be everlasting.

Patty and Jim impacted the lives of several children together by being foster parents.  She gave her heart willingly to those she loved.

Patty always seemed to know just what someone needed to hear, whether it be working with a student or advising one of her “Cheerios”, she provided needed guidance and support, always wrapped in love and affection.

Patty always welcomed her friends and family with open arms.  She enjoyed gardening, and loved spending time with her Bunco and Mahjong girls.

Preceded in death by her father, James Cashman, Patty is survived by her husband of 26 years, Jim Huber; brother, James Cashman; sister, Peggy Beard; step-brother, Bill Cashman; her beloved pups, Lucy, Murphy, Daisy, & Harper; along with a tribe of wonderful extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Patty's life will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, August 14, 2023 at the Christian Life Center, 3489 Little York Rd., Dayton, Ohio with Pastor Scott Snyder officiating.

Patty was the ultimate hostess, and to honor her memory, the family will host an informal social gathering immediately following the service.   Light refreshments will be served and the Huber Family looks forward to hearing stories and sharing memories with Patty's friends, students, colleagues and all those she touched throughout her life.   In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to The Dayton Foundation for a scholarship to be established in Patty's memory.
