Michael John Naas

Michael J Naas

was born to the late Edward and Catherine (Puthoff) Naas on August 21, 1942. He grew up in Northridge as well as Old North Dayton and is a 1959 graduate of Chaminade High School. Mike is a Nuclear Veteran having served in the USAF at Kirtland AFB in New Mexico.  He was a ground crewman for s/n 52-0013 the B52B used during Operation Dominic, conducting atomic testing in 1962. During his time in Albuquerque, he met his wife of 58 years, Patricia Murphy. They returned to Dayton where he operated several service stations (Mike’s SOHIO) in Harrison and Butler townships for over a decade.  He continued in the automotive trade as service technician at Moorman Pontiac for another 25 years.  Mike was a man of faith and a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents Edward and Catherine, his loving brothers, Paul and Lawrence and a loving sister-in-law, Jane.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia;  their children- Loretta (Warner) Bowling, Donna Smith, Michael (Kristin) Naas and Elizabeth (Ralph) Korthauer; grandchildren- Robert, Katie (Nick), Colton (Mallorie), John (Carolyn),  Daniel, Christine, Jeffery, Matthew, Jennifer and Jeremy; greatgrandchild Lincoln; 8 siblings Dave (Carolyn), Bob, sister-in-law Barb, Carl (Terry), Mary (Bill) Collins, Karen (John) Ludwig, Norman (Cheryl), sister-in-law Carolyn, Ruth Jergens  and Patty (John) Sparkman along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive family and friends on Monday, December 27, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at St Christopher’s Catholic Church, 435 E. National Rd, Vandalia. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Tuesday, December 28th, 2021 at St. Christopher with Rev. John Tonkin as celebrant.

Michael will be interred privately with his fellow Veterans at the Dayton National Cemetery.
