Michael Lee Hicks

Michael Lee Hicks, 69, of Vandalia, passed away Friday, December 1, 2023. He was born to Albert & Julia Hicks on May 24, 1954 in Dayton, Ohio. Mike was a 1972 graduate of Stiver High School in Dayton, Ohio and worked for various vending machine companies in the Dayton area.

Preceded in death by his parents, Albert & Julia Hicks, his brother Robert Hicks and his half-sister, Sue Hicks.

Beyond being an avid lover of his family and friends, Michael was an adventurer. He never sat in one place for long because there was far to much to do. From bike rides to picnics, exploring parks and cities, plants needing tended, fish to be fed, rollercoasters to be ridden, grandkids to chase, he was the man to do it all and beyond and will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who crossed his many paths.

Survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Susan Hicks; his children, Leslie Hutchins (Eric), Brian Dziekan (Kimberly), Courtney Tipton (Michael) & Jessica Grote (Robert); brother, Lester Hicks (Tammie); half-brothers, Bobby Hicks & Buddy Hicks (Trudy); 10 grandchildren, Christopher (Jessie), Andrew, Lane (Barbara), Breanna, Lariah, Tristan, Braxton, Xander, Anzley & Roe; great granddaughter, Evelyn; mother-in-law & father-in-law, Richard & Patricia Baughman; many other relatives & friends.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia, with the funeral service at 12 noon.
