SMITH, Mary Jane, age 73 of Vandalia, passed away Monday, September 21, 2009 at Good Samaritan Hospital. She was born June 8, 1935 in Lexington, KY, daughter of the late Greenberry & Alice Gross. Preceded in death by 2 daughters, Mary is survived by her husband of 20 years, Dane Smith of Vandalia; 1 son; 5 step-children; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 sister; 1 foster brother and a host of other relatives and many good friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, September 25, at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia. Burial to follow Poplar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 12 noon until time of service.
