Margaret Jean Richards

Margaret "Jean" Richards Age 88, of Vandalia, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2015. She was born March 13, 1927 in Bryson, TN to the late Ben & Eva (Owenby) Hamlett. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Jack Richards, in 2001; and by one sister, Betty Cloar. Jean was a member of First Baptist Church Vandalia for over 20 years. For many years she worked as a baby sitter and seamstress and she enjoyed bowling. Jean is survived by three children, Judy Wick (Steve), Gary Richards (Karen) & Jay Richards; four grandchildren, Jason (Lindsay), Scott (Sofia), Amy (Chris) & Ashley (Burton); 10 great grandchildren, Jack, Connor, Erin, Aidan, Marcos, Henry, Olivia, Owen, Kennedy & Callen; two brothers, Jay Hamlett (Pat) & Joe Hamlett (Donna); two sisters, Tunie Barry (Neil) & Ann Ferguson (Norman); and by her extended family & many good friends. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday (4/4) at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Mr. John Seagraves will officiate. Interment will follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
