Linda Schmit

Schmit, Linda, age 84, of Vandalia, Ohio, passed away Friday, September 11, 2026. Linda was born in Dayton, Ohio, on July 24, 1942, to Antoinette and Hubert DeMange. She was a faithful member of St. Christopher Catholic Church, a member of the Women’s Prayer Group, and a regular volunteer at the annual St. Christopher Summer Festival. Linda worked for over 25 years as a AAA salesperson and at Colgate-Palmolive as a merchandiser.

Linda was preceded in death by her sisters Betty Hall and Mary Ann Boeckman, brothers-in-law Ron Hall and Jerry Boeckman, sisters-in-law Cindy DeMange and Kathy DeMange, and son Scott Schmit (2018). She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Ron Schmit. She is also survived by family members Barbara & Jack Rowlands, John DeMange, and James & Peggy DeMange; daughters Lori (Steve) Lutz, Robin (Mark) Sojda, Amy (Mark) Goldschmidt, and son Kyle (Elizabeth) Probst; 18 grandchildren: Mary, Grace, Philip, Tom, Robert, Allan-Michael, Alyssa, Jessica, Dan, Kathryn, Tim, Elise, Mike, Joseph, Laura, Jacob, Katie, and Josie; many great-grandchildren, extended family, and many friends.

A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Friday, September 18th, at St. Christopher’s Church, 435 E National Rd, Vandalia, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Christopher’s and interment at Poplar Hill Cemetery, 1340 S Dixie Dr, also in Vandalia.
